SEX SEX and more SEX
Sex is a beautiful thing. Lets face it we all love it we all enjoy it. Without sex where would we all be? Without that carnal instinct life would be just a tad bit boring. Yeah we could bungee jump off a 30 story building without a safety net and catch a serious rush. But it still does not compare to a sweaty morning or evening which ever you prefer. Sex is awesome dammit!!!!
Anyway what does all of this have to do with music? Well everything …ever since we have been recording music as a society there have been songs about sex. Yeah Kool G Rap’s “Talk Like Sex” would be considered by most of our parents as too raunchy and not even music but you could draw an almost draw a straight line from G Rap to Little Richard’s “Tutti Frutti” which in its time was considered not only raunchy but blasphemous. The history of the booty call on wax is a long and wonderful one if you look at it from the perspective of the artisist ability to make you blush. On Marvin Gaye’s I Want You album “You Sure Love to Ball” is about as straight forward as you can get. Marvin’s ability to take something so dirty and so overt and make it sound sexy was a special ability that few artists possess.
Yes throughout the years the sex song has changed what was once left up to the imagination has been put on front street. Tutti Frutti has turned into Feeling on Your Booty. Though most would look at it as if it was a shame I actually see it for what it is a pushing of boundaries. The lines that my parents crossed were looked at by there parents as places that were taboo and the lines that we crossed were taboo for our parents. It’s the natural progression of things. The songs in this mix offer that raw unfiltered look at what sex is all about that passion and aggression that comes with being in the moment. That true self that great sex exposes. When sex is sensual and soft what we call it love making and there’s nothing wrong with that but sometimes sex need’s to be just what it is… a hot sweaty mess…and that’s what these songs celebrate.
